Garlic is Not Just Garlic Anymore

Grow! The Garden Workshop Series

Workshop participants will enjoy class time,  field time, Garlic Inspired Lunch, and also take some garlic home to plant in their own gardens for next year, or if they can’t wait, to eat!

Most people use garlic in their cooking on a regular basis. Then there are those people who are fanatical about garlic! Whichever kind of person you are, did you know that garlic is easy to grow in the home garden? Using your own garlic in the kitchen is rewarding and far more flavourful than imported garlic from the grocery store. Furthermore, garlic in the garden allows use of this versatile flavouring year-round, either as fresh spring garlic, garlic scapes in the summer, and then garlic bulbs in fall and winter. Working with our gardener, Colin, he will demonstrate step by step, from soil preparation to harvest and curing, how to grow great garlic at home. To learn by doing, and to keep warm, we will have fun planting some of the garlic that Strathmere will use in 2020.

Please dress for the weather as the workshop will take place rain or shine!
