At least 5,000 women come through our booth, and we know this because we sampled 5,000 of our homemade white chocolate and cranberry scones with our Wildflower Fleur de Sel Honey Butter and they all disappeared pretty quickly!

Congratulations to Carol Watt, who won the draw for an Overnight Getaway for two at Strathmere’s Nordic Spa. 

The prize included a 6 – Course Chef and Vintner Wine and Food Pairing Dinner Menu, Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Bottle of Sparkling Wine in room on arrival & breakfast the following morning.

Another successful Mother’s Day Brunch was held on Sunday, May 13th with over 350 guests in attendance.

Food was fabulous with Eggs Benedict and the Omelet Station a big hit once again. The Carved Prime Rib of Beef and Fresh Local Asparagus with Lemon Zest was enjoyed by all! We had many compliments not only on how great all the food tasted, but also on how beautifully it was presented with edible flowers decorating the platters.

Mother Nature was on our side. What a lovely day for our guests and their families to stroll the grounds and gardens taking pictures as they finished brunch, playing outdoor ping pong and a little beach volleyball!

Serves 8 people

-2lbs of Fresh, Local Asparagus – (we pick it right from our field)

-Steam until “Al Dente”

-Drain and set in an ice bath to stop cooking, rest for a few minutes until cool, then pat dry well.

-Transfer to a container and drizzle well with with vinaigrette and marinate overnight.

For Service, transfer asparagus to serving platter, drizzle with vinaigrette, garnish and serve.

Vinaigrette:

½ cup Soya Sauce

¼ cup Strathmere’s Wildflower Honey

3 tablespoons Sesame Oil

¼ cup Rice Wine Vinegar Season with Black Pepper to taste

Garnish:

Chopped Roasted Red Pepper

Toasted White and Black Sesame Seeds

Want to really jazz up the presentation? Add edible spring flowers, lilacs or tulips to the platter!

Many vegetables, such as zucchini, are more tender and delicate when they are picked small.

Although people assume this is true for asparagus too, it is not. Thin asparagus spears are not better than thick ones. Thick spears result from older plants, though not older spears; and male plants (asparagus have different male and female plants).

Thick spears are just as good and even better than thin ones.
